Today we announced that Mass Effect 2 will be shipping Jan 26, 2010 and that you can reserve your copy an receive exclusive in-game items! Here are the details:
Terminus Assault Armor and the Blackstorm Heavy Weapon
In North America, pre-order bonuses* include special-ops armor and weaponry that are designed to boost Commander Shepard’s skills and abilities. At GameStop, Terminus Gear is available with pre-orders, which includes the powerful Terminus Assault Armor and the Blackstorm Heavy Weapon:
• The Terminus Armor is designed for use in extreme planetary conditions, increasing run speed and personal shields, and augmenting weapons with an additional magazine of reserve ammo.
• The M-90 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon generates a high-powered localized gravity well, accelerating particles to near-infinite mass, and ultimately expanding the selection of heavy weapons available to players when they gear up for combat missions in Mass Effect 2.
Inferno Armor
Players that pre-order Mass Effect 2 at other retail outlets in North America will receive the potent Inferno Armor, which is used by officers to monitor battlefield conditions by recognizing elevated heart rates, and regulates sub-systems with extreme efficiency to allow for greater response times – together these abilities translate in-game into a negotiation bonus for Commander Shepard and an increase in run speed and augmented damage from combat powers.
Now to figure out which armor set to get for which platform…

Is that Iron Man?
And I guess we in Europe get nothing, as usual…

It does look a little like Iron Man, just needs some gold :p
I guess they could make it DLC or use promotional codes…
Although I’d probably laugh and cry when someone tried to download and got a message like I did once: ‘This DLC is available everywhere except: [insert random EU country here].’
Cheers

And for us poor souls living in Australia? Also, does this mean there isn’t going to be a collector’s edition?
October 17, 2009 at 12:52 am |
I have a couple questions about the Terminus Armor and Blackstorm.
1. Will the Terminus Armor be available to classes that cannot equip heavy armor? If so, can you include some pics of it’s light and medium counterparts?
2. Will the Blackstorm be useable for classes that are not proficient with heavy weaponry (e.g., Adept)?
Thanks in advance.

I just want to know if the other armor type: either the terminus or Inferno armor will be available for download later on.

What about people living in other countries outside of North America? Do we have to purchase the collector’s edition? =/
October 17, 2009 at 10:15 am |
Sue C. I’m guessing that if the armors are available outside North America they would be included in the Collectors Edition, plus other goodies like an art book and maybe a new version of the Codex. It’ll most likely be a bit pricey though…
Cheers

Yeah, that’s great… for the lucky people it’s great for
October 21, 2009 at 4:08 pm |
Woot! thats really great items! May the lord of games hear me and may him make possible for us, NON north american people to have those too
October 21, 2009 at 7:41 pm |
nobody cares about europe. if it wasnt for the usa you guys would all be speaking german right now anyway so it doesnt matter. =-D
October 22, 2009 at 3:56 am |
Seems like gamestop sends packages to some EU countries too.
Among them you can find UK/Austria, but unfortunately not Hungary ( population between 10-15million )
I wonder how much more customers they potentially get from Aruba for example ( population is around 120,000 total according to Aruba.com ) which is available.
However International shipping is seems to be an option to my Australian cousines.
October 22, 2009 at 8:33 am |
most likely the haven’t concluded negotiation with the retailers in europe and such since they are more numerous. I personally hope the Terminus armor is available for amazon customers in the EU since the Inferno one looks kind dumb…
October 22, 2009 at 11:50 am |
And what about Spain/EU players?? (srry for plagiarize Cat user)
We are Mass Effect fans too, and, I think, we need to know about that. May be “Game” shops will distribute it?? If it is possible, can we join the two armors??
Please, say something, time is going.
P.S.: srry for my english, i know, is a “c r a p”.

Reserve Ammo? What happened to the unlimited ammo but only over heating?
October 23, 2009 at 4:38 pm |
Lol what a bunch of babies, you know why you don’t get any? Because the grand old USA game market is only rivaled by Japan. Now to give you guys a little boost up after that, were also a bunch of fat people who can’t do anything but eat and play games. =P
October 25, 2009 at 11:33 am |
They say other retailers but does that include drm’s like direct2drive or steam?
October 26, 2009 at 12:42 am |
Hopefully they’ll let us buy the items as DLC. I could be wrong, but I’m sure I read somewhere that they were going to do this with the DA:O collector’s and pre-order items.
October 26, 2009 at 8:29 am |
Try to use STEAM!!! I live in Brazil, way more forgotten than your’s english speaking countrys… and still I can use STEAM to pre-order my MASS EFFECT 2
October 27, 2009 at 12:05 pm |
Getting games digitally isn’t always practical. For example here in South Africa I’m paying around 30usd per gig of bandwidth. If ME2 were 10 gigs, that would be an internet bill of 300usd. And I don’t think the probem is restricted to SA- I’m sure gamers in other developing countries also have to deal with high internet costs.
Everyone would benefit if they negotiated pre-order deals with the various suppliers around the world.
October 27, 2009 at 3:54 am |
What’s the deal Bioware? Is our non-American money not good enough for you?
October 28, 2009 at 2:23 am |
Hello to my non NA gamer friends! Not all Americans are douches, so I feel your pain when you guys get shafted with certain things in regards to games. So don’t judge us because the game companies do that crap, nor judge us because of the one or two lame comments from earlier. I love all my gamer brothers n sisters all around the world. We need to stick together!

Hey man thank for the nice com. Don’t worry, even though my fellow french bastards and a lot of people bitches about USA and american people, the clever ones can’t possibly forget that europa has been ridden of the german and soviet threat by a lot of american blood. Still its true that in a gaming point of view, Europe has always been forgotten! Remember xenogear, and all those magnificent square enix PS2 games, only available in Japan AND Usa. Not that I give a damn as I speak both language !! But still
November 4, 2009 at 9:39 am
USA was in an aliance with the soviet union during the second world war, never actualy fought it and had absolutely nothing to do with soviet union falling apart. It must be awesome to be that arogant to speak about stuff like this without any knowedgle and ignorant enough to not even bother checking it. I envy you.
Don’t start with history coments because there allways is someone who can easily prove you’re an idiot.
October 29, 2009 at 5:38 am |
I’m not going to touch steam unless someone pays me for it. I’m not from a english speaking country (what probobly is noticable thanks to my spelling skills) and I simply can’t understand why this deal should be limited only to a part (significant – true, but still a part) of the world while EA has it’s branches in US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, United Kingdom and possibly more. In all the interest BioWare is showing to its fans/customers this policy would be weird.
I just checked – in the mentioned abve countries I’m fairly sure it IS possible to preorder the game. From what I understand – if you preorder the game at GameStop you get the first set of stuff (the Terminus Armor and a heavy weapon), if you preorder at your local EA retailer you get yourself the second one (Inferno Armor).
It really would be awesome to have someone from BioWare or EA to explain it here and cut/fuel the non USA countries rant.
October 31, 2009 at 12:37 pm |
to the decide thing I’m saying just do both for PC preorders! Who cares about consoles!
November 7, 2009 at 10:34 pm |
Hey this sounds great! Pre-ordering will be my top priority. Hey what this about having ammo now? Seems reasonable since all I did before was hose down enemies. Wonder what the Collectors will hold since they’ve announced that it too will have extras.
